Federal Loan and Work Study Programs
To be eligible for federal loan programs, students must complete the FAFSA and be enrolled in at least six credits.
Most student loans do not require repayment until after graduation
Stafford Loan (Subsidized or Unsubsidized)
Long-term, low-interest loans to help students pay for educational expenses. Subsidized loans are not charged
interest while enrolled at least half-time. Repayment begins six months after the student drops below half time
status or graduates.
Perkins Loan
Offered to students who meet certain financial need requirements. Students are not charged interest while attending school
at least half-time. Repayment begins nine months after the student drops below half time status or graduates.
Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS)
Low-interest loan offered to the parent(s) of dependent undergraduate students. The PLUS loan is subject to credit
approval. Repayment terms determined by lending institution.
Work Study
A program that provides on-campus jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need.
